The Holiday Season is neatly marked by Charlie Brown holiday T.V. specials. The number 13 seems to conjure up all kinds of negative connotations that somehow it is associated with misfortune and superstition. Fear of the number 13 is called Triskaidekaphobia and it is fear that puts the breaks to anything you do in life. However this number can also be associated with very good things like when you reach the age of 13 you quit being a kid and now you are officially a teenager. Read more

Southern California is the birthplace of Hardcore Punk, slam dancing, circle pits, and the H.B. strut. Chances are if you live here and you are involved in any sort of underground subculture you grew up up on these simple things. . . Black Flag, the Adolescents, T.S.O.L., Fear, Agent Orange, the Circle Jerks, skateboards, stage dives, and living fast, hopefully not dying young. The influence of Hardcore is so ingrained in our culture here, but somehow it seems like the music itself is dying away. Read more

When it comes to Punk Rock attitude is everything. I was recently at a gig where the opening band played a ripping set which included a cover of an all time favorite song of mine from an obscure British Hardcore band. They sounded great and under normal circumstances I would have been stoked to see a band pull off such a great performance. It should go without saying that different medias and art forms appeal to different types of people. Movie buffs may associate turning points in their lives with iconic films like Thelma and Louise, Rebel Without a Cause, Easy Rider, or even Donnie Darko. People who are into literature may strongly identify with Catcher In the Rye, Grapes Of Wrath, or On The Road. For many of us here at Big Wheel the form that speaks to us most potently is music and perhaps most often Punk Rock in particular. Read more
