September 5, 2012

The Vibrators - Death Hymn Number 9 - LA Drugz - and The Black Mambas - at Los Globos - Los Angeles, CA - September 5, 2012 The guys from The Love Stain out did themselves again with another epic show Wednesday night. Punk Rock veterans The Vibrators shared the stage with with new-comers to the scene. Death Hymn #9, LA Drugz, and The Black Mambas. The monster of a line-up had people flocking to Los Globos mid-week for an evening of Punk Rock fun.

The Black Mambas went on early. Even though the crowd was still thin during their set, they played with the same intensity as if there were a packed house already. They started with "Charlie (are you living fast)" and powered through their set with other great songs like "Jumpin' Judy" and "Baby I'll Give It To You".

Next up was LA Drugz. Front man Justin Maurer brings his A game when on stage with a great band backing him up. They played fast and hard, but melodic enough to keep their Power Pop element. Their set was fun and encited the first real movement of the night as the crowd was growing a bit thicker.

Death Hymn #9 made their way on stage complete with zombie make-up and clothing covered in fake blood.  It was obivious that many of the concert goers were fans as they sang along. Their lead singer spent the majority of the time in the crowd, urging them in closer and demanding their participation. He was entertaining to say the least, at times looking like he was in a scene from The Exorcist. They played plenty of original material as well as covers from Black Flag and The Oblivions. During their cover of Nervous Breakdown a decent pit broke out. They did a great job building up the momentum for The Vibrators' set that followed.

As The Vibrators were set to take the stage the crowd grew denser and you could feel the anticipation growing. As soon as they started, people wasted no time in the pit. Everywhere you looked people had smiles on their faces as they were singing along and slamming into one another.

The Vibrators played a tight set for well over an hour. The progression of the night from Power Pop to Punk went off like a hitch and made this show particularly awesome in every way. The Love Stain proved that the local LA music scene can hang and hold their own with the big dogs. Even though it was a Wednesday show, it turned out a huge success. I think I speak for everyone who attended when I say,  Cheers to The Love Stain for their awesome planning and promoting on this gig. It was seriously a fun show!
