The Adicts – at Wasted Space inside the Hard Rock Casino – Las Vegas, NV

July 4, 2010

The Adicts in Las VegasWhat else can I say but what a way to spend the 4th of July, than to be at an Adicts concert. For me the night started off by being able to sit in on their soundcheck. To me it was like my own private show, except for the Wasted Space employees who were there. After the soundcheck I sat and talked with Pete D. as he told some hilarious stories. It was a pleasure to see The Adicts again.

I staked my spot out in front as the music being played on the PA system was getting the crowd myself included all wound up in anticipation of The Adicts. The lights dimmed and we heard that music that everyone knows, and at that point the crowd surged towards the stage to get as close as possible, as Wasted Space is not that big of a venue, so to say I was crushed against the stage is an understatement.

The band makes their way to their places on stage, and out comes Monkey dressed to the 9's with a deck of cards in hand, Streamers, glitter, confetti everything expected at an Adicts show. They started out with Joker In The Pack, with cards flying everywhere and streamers all over they busted out Tune In, Tango, Spank Me Baby, with all the theatrics and fun we were waiting for. The set continued with Troubadour, Fuck It Up, and 4321.

With every song the crowd got more and more animated, a few kids even got on the stage and did some stage diving, then the security people stood in front of the stage. One guy was next to me and I could tell he wasn't comfortable being in that position of trying not to let people get on the stage. It was actually funny watching him.

Then came the song all the girls wait for "BAD GIRL"  The stage is small anyways, and there must have been at least 8 to 10 girls on the stage with the band needless to say it was packed up there, all the girls grabbing Monkey, and Pete, the girl who Monkey thought was the best got a Green Stuffed Monkey.

At this point Monkey goes off stage for a costume change, and comes back dressed like Uncle Sam, and the band tears into "VIVA LA REVOLUTION" how appropriate for the 4th of July. The crowd went into a Frenzy. Then comes the black wig blue tinted sunglasses with guitars on either side as cans of silly string, spraying everybody.

Now it's time for their Encore songs, complete with Beach Balls, tons more confetti, bubble machines, Red White and Blue Streamers, and a pair of bubble guns. The bubble machines weren't enough so Monkey had his own bubble guns which he threw into the audience, as well as his shirt, and gloves. Finishing up with Johnny was a Soldier, and who Spilt my Beer, It was another outstanding 2 hour performance by these very theatrical and entertaining PUNK ROCKERS!
