Slash featuring Myles Kennedy – at The Edinburgh Corn Exchange – Edinburgh, UK

Despite the fact that Slash had played at the Corn Exchange in previous years, the excitement from the crowd was unmistakable. One group of girls had camped out from 9 that morning just so they could claim the best spot in the gig! 

 

 

Slash came on stage followed by Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators. These guys kicked it off from the start and didn’t stop throughout the whole gig. Having the GNR classic ‘Nightrain’ as the second song of the night really set the pace. 

They mixed it up with Slash’s own songs as well as Guns n Roses hits, plus one Velvet Revolver song thrown in for good measure. All were met with the same great response from the crowd. Slash let rip with solos at various points and hit home that he really is one of the best guitarists ever. Many rock stars fade with age, Slash pisses all over everything and eats it alive! 

Myles Kennedy was a true front rock n roll man and had vocals to match. His singing was spot on, enough like Axl to nail the GNR songs but with enough of his own style to make everything his own. 

Half way through the show lead guitarist Todd Kerns took the front of stage. His infectious energy shone through whilst singing “We’re All Gonna Die”. Slash even joined in singing backing vocals. This was followed with ‘Dr Alibi’ and ‘Out Ta Get Me’ which both went down a storm. 

Myles moved back on lead vocals for more hits, including ‘Anastasia’. ‘You’re a Lie’ and ‘Sweet Child of Mine’. The encore consisted of the brilliant ‘Fall To Pieces’ and ‘Paradise City’. All the band members showed exactly how a gig should be - packed full of energy, excellent songs, rocking guitar playing and of course featuring a living legend. Excellent.
