Doggy Style at Surf City Saloon – Huntington Beach, CA
November 6, 2009
For the past few months Doggy Style guitarist Ed "Shaggy" Caudill has been playing again with his old high school cohorts in AWOL in a revamped form featuring original members and young gun, Danny S. of Dawn Patrol on guitar. Last week they started playing a string of shows under the Doggy Style name, adding songs like "Side By Side," "Rookie Cop," and "Nympho" to a set list that had already featured "Donut Shop Rock," "Ladies From Neptune" and "Preteens" as well as several songs that are exclusively AWOL 69 songs.
Keeping in mind that this is probably the closest that we will ever see to a reunion of Doggy Style's original lineup it was a great treat to see the band playing these songs, dressed in all green in the great Doggy Style tradition. Hopefully this won't be the last string of shows that these guys play together under the D.S. name. It would be great to see them add even more songs to the set like "Support and Belief," "Straight," and "Denial."
