DEVO – Grand Opening night of The Crown Theater inside Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino – Las Vegas, NV

June 19, 2010

DEVO in Las VegasThe first band went on about 7:15 they were Las Vegas band "Afghan Raiders" whose electronic heavy hitting sounds was an excellent choice in an opening band for Devo. They played approximately 30 to 45 minutes and by this time the crowd was anticipating the arrival of DEVO. At this point I made my way to the photographers area and got set up and ready to photograph a band I had seen over 30 years ago. I can't believe it had been that long since i saw them at The Whisky in Hollywood.

Once DEVO hit the stage the crowd went into an absolute Frenzy!! they opened up with "Don't Shoot" followed by Peek-a-Boo, and a Plethra of new and old songs. After my photography duties were finished I made my way back to my seat to enjoy the rest of the show. It was absolutely amazing, hit after hit, from Satisfaction, Whip It, Gates of Steel, Mongoloid, Uncontrollable Urge, and one of my favorites Secret Agent Man.

After they made their transition into the trademark yellow jumpsuits they played a couple more songs then stripped out of the jumpsuits and threw them into the audience, some lucky fans got some cool DEVO Memorabilia. The show was just non stop and Marks vocals were in top notch form. They finished the show with 2 encores  "Freedom of Choice" and "Beautiful World".
DEVO
Talk about a Grand Opening, Devo most assuredly was GRAND! It was a very nice evening with a line up that could open up the doors of Fort Knox! After Devo was done and the concert portion was over the night club went into full swing with resident DJ Alpyne and DJ Mika Gold keeping the party going until the wee hours of the morning. It must be said that the folks over at PR Plus know how to handle a grand opening that made the night very first class -Vegas is in good hands with them helming some top shelf acts. When you are in Vegas, make sure you go check out the show listings over at The Crown Theater, this a great place to see a show.
