Circle One – Public Nuisance – and The Dips – at Nora’s Place – Hollywood, CA
September 7, 2012
The Dips took the stage after local openers, they were tight and played well. They could have easily been a band from the 80’s as they have that 80’s sound. Lots of bands try to emulate that sound but fail.
These guys hit it right on target. With songs like Beans and Weenies, DUI, and Grandma’s Dick they play hardcore with a touch of originality and humor.
Next Up were Public Nuisance, these guys were originally from Sylmar (Mars Town) and started out in late 1981. Original members Dennis (singer) and John (guitarist) still belt out the best punk rock. They have a good 2nd guitarist, bassist, and drummer. They played all their classic’s like: I hate new romantics, Anarchy, and Attack along with a batch of new songs. These guys played with the likes of: Bad Brains, Circle Jerks, and Circle One back in the day. Check them out when you can.
Last up were hardcore veterans Circle One. This line-up featured Mike Ituarte and Mike Vallejo on bass and guitar. Their new vocalist Jeremy fit’s the band well, as there known to have a strong front man image. They played all the old classic’s: G. I. Combat, F.O., Left. Right. Left. Right., and Highway Patrolmen.
The band gets the crowd going as they rip through there set of songs from their “Patterns of Force” 1983 debut. Circle One stills sticks to their 80’s hardcore sound and plan on recording a new L.P. by next year.
