Brigitte Handley and The Dark Shadows – The Originators – Jaxy and The 357′s – The Scoundrels – at The Bunkhouse – Las Vegas, NV

April 5, 2010

Another great night at The Bunkhouse. First up was local Psychobilly Rockabilly 4 piece from Las Vegas, Jaxy and the 357's fronted by lead singer Jaxy she has this incredible voice and reminds me of the sultry "Courtney Love" Only way more Sexy. and backing her is an awesome trio of musicians Thom on guitar, Zak on drums, and Mitch was on the stand up Bass. With songs like Cold Cold Love, Evil Box, Rot & Decay  they blasted through their 40 or so minute set like they were on a mission.  And I was very impressed with how tight the band sounded they were getting the crowd warmed up for what was to come up. Las Vegas has alot of the Psychobilly bands, and they kick A$$. Jaxy and the 357's put on a great show. They smoked The Bunkhouse. Check em on myspace and grab their CD it is well worth it.

Next up is one of my favorite local bands, "The Originators" They never dissapoint me, every time I see them they just keep getting better. Tonight was no exception, Withn their combonation of Rock Ska Funk and Jazz. And the amazing thing about this night, was that their guitar player had quit the band. But with Dave on Bass, Vlad on Drums, Woz on keyboards, and the Lovely Sarah on Lead vocals !  they sounded better without a guitar player.  I've seen a few bands that don't have guitar. just like bass and drums but The Originators totally make it WORK !!!  Look out for this band they are working on a new c.d. to be released shortly. They are getting a big following here in Vegas,  and beleive me soon they will be taking the U.S.A by storm!!! You can check them on my space as well. I highly reccomend this band. They don't dissapoint me and I'm sure you will not be dissapointed either. My favorite song is Martini Cool. But there are many cool songs. They are now in a Battle of the Bands contest and the winner goes to London to open for Pearl Jam. Keep your eyes open for this band.

3rd up was another local Psychobilly/Rockabilly band The Scoundrels. Fronted by the lovely Red Haired Vixen Bianca Bananas, Steve on guitar, Antonio on stand up Bass, and the Amazing Jomar on drums !!  He is just an amazing drummer. Actually the whole band is amazing. They kicked ass through their set playing songs like Desert Surf, Let em Rot, and Death Story, They were totally getting the audience ready for the headlining Trio from Austarlia. The Scoundrels can also be found on Myspace.

All of these bands are in my opinion Las Vegas Hidden Treasures!! Check them on myspace as well. Hats off to this band they ROCKED The BunkHouse.

It is now time for the headlining band, Brigitte Handley and The Dark Shadows A trio from Sydney Australia. I think it was cool for them to play Vegas while on this leg of their tour. With Brigitte Handley on lead guitar and vocals, Carly Chalker on Bass and vocals and the Sexy Nerida Wu on Drums. I have respect for drummers ever since I saw Sandy West in The Runaways R.I.P. Jamming through songs like , "Stand Off" "Vampyre" "Freedom Of Choice" "Zombie Nation"  and my favorite song was called "Psycho".

Their brand of Indie, Punk, Alternative music  totally  KICED THE BUNKHOUSE'S A$$.  I feel fortunate to have seen these ladies from Australia. They are on a world wide tour,  Check them out when they play by you. You can see their schedule on their myspace or Facebook page. Another highly reccomended band.
It was a Great night of music at The Bunkhouse, here in Sin City Las Vegas.
