The Adicts 2012 Tour – Scene One
January 15, 2012
A man whose name I don't remember, and whose face I've long forgotten once told me outside a small club in Islington "We love The Adicts, of course we do.They gave us hope when no one had ever done that." Is that enough to explain the fanatical devotion the world has for this long-running Punk band? Or is it maybe the joy every one of their shows inspires, and the confetti, glitter, cards, and other small knick-knacks that shower the crowd, thrown by the joker-faced frontman Monkey?
The band has been around with pretty much the same lineup (a rarity in the Punk rock world) since 1977, gathering fans and followers with their carnival-like stage shows, and bouncy high-energy poppy Punk songs.
Whatever it is that makes the Adicts adored world-wide, their cartoon logo bringing smiles of recognition from Indonesia to Australia, Brazil to England, and all points in between, the indisputable fact is that Adicts shows can't help but make you a fan for life. Tour announcements are always eagerly anticipated, and the west coast was given a great holiday gift with the announcement of upcoming dates in January.
Is there a better way to kick off your new year than diving head-first into the glory and the madness that is The Adicts live? Probably not. Shows do tend to sell out, so it's probably a good idea to spend some of that Christmas money on tickets now.
Get to a show in your area so that you are not that person that is sitting your bedroom spinning their records saying.... "ohh, I wish I had went to go see them live when they played".
