Show Preview: Help Mike! A Benefit Show preview - Adolescents - Mike Watt - 45 Grave, Channel 3, Shattered Faith, White Flag & more: at The Echoplex - Los Angeles, CA - January 25, 2013Punk Rock benefit shows are amongst Big Wheel Magazine's favorite shows to support since live music gatherings have always been a great way to raise funds for those truly in need. Mike Atta of Middle Class really needs all of our help in the scene and thankfully a show of grand proportions has been set up to do just that. With a lineup featuring some of southern California’s best 80’s hardcore acts, you can expect a large turnout for what is going to be one hell of an epic (and helpful) gig and well worth shelling out measly $17.00 for a show that should cost twice as much to attend.

Headlining will be The Adolescents who hail from Orange County and are California Punk legends that were highlighted in the film American Hardcore of which Mike Atta's band Middle Class was cited as the genesis for many bands. Fans will get to sing and slam to such classics like “Amoeba”, “I Hate Children”, “Kids of the Black Hole” and many more. Also on this rad bill are Mike Watt & the Missingmen, a Punk rock trio of all stars who will shake things up to help benefit their friend Mike Atta.

If that already wasn’t righteous enough, expect things to get even gnarlier with 45 Grave as they play a full set of death rock tunes for the ghoul school crowd. With their newly released album, Pick Your Poison, 45 Grave will treat you to a few new songs along with all your mainstay favorites.

Channel 3 the Punk rock stalwarts from Cerritos, CA that can be counted on to get any crowd drinking hard and fast to slamming as they play through a catalog of songs that embrace the spirit of youth and angst -certainly look for Maria Montoya to grace the stage during their show to sing "You Make Me Feel Cheap".

Shattered Faith who are one of the most under-appreciated and best bands from the 80's are seeing a huge resurgence as a younger generation of Punks discover their melodic genius, they will take the stage for a performance that for sure will leave a musical mark in your psyche forever.

White Flag who have been on the music scene going back some 25+ years have ben hailed by many as one of the best bands to grow out of the LA scene that successfully snubbed it's nose at the predictability of Punk rock when they started. Today their shows are filled with a wall of sound and a presence that will leave you saying, "WOW, I did not expect that".

Enjoy the video below of a collection of Urinals songs

The Urinals remain one of the more elusive bands on this show and tend to pop up on a show when you least expect it. The Another EP tracks "I'm A Bug" and "Ack Ack Ack Ack" remain favorites of the band and many will remember when the band evolved into 100 Flowers fans will recall the song "Reject Yourself" that was contained on compilation in every Punks record collection, the Hell Comes To Your House compilation. Make sure you get there early so you can get a spot up front for their set.

As the flyer says there are more guests joining this show consisting of, Audacity, The Abigales, The Peeks, The Garden and White Night -who could ask for more with such an already epic roster of bands. Getting this benefit show kicked off with be a special opening set with Agent Orange and Punk rock luminary, Alice Bag will be serving as the emcee as well.

What is most important here is that everyone who can support turns up and donates whatever money they can to help cover the costs for Mike Attas cancer treatment. As you may know treatment is not cheap, but every dollar donated helps make it more affordable, and that is something to consider. Go to the Facebook set up to keep you up to date on Mike's fight as he battles to kick cancer in the ass www.facebook.com/HelpMikeBattleCancer.
