Show Preview: Screeching Weasel – The Queers – and Toys That Kill – at The Fonda Theatre – Hollywood, CA – July 15, 2012
April 19, 2012
Lookout Records officially closed its doors this year and two of their most popular bands from their heyday in the mid 1990s are coming to town.
Pop-Punk enthusiasts are anticipating this show in a big way!
Screeching Weasel has been playing some of the catchiest, snotty, poppy Punk Rock ever written, since 1986. It's 2012. That's 26 years of honing your sound. The 3 chord buzzsaw attack is alive and well in this, the newest incarnation of what is arguably my favorite Pop Punk band. The songs are timeless. Rife with controversy and thought provoking material, Screeching Weasel promises to deliver all the hits. From the tongue-in-cheek criticism of Punk Rock scenes in "Cool Kids" to Ben's take on SXSW in "Carnival of Schadenfreude," you'll be knocked off your feet by the classic tunes.
The other legendary Pop Punk heavy hitters, The Queers, will also be appearing on stage. Constantly touring and refining their act, the Queers are a perfect mix of the Beach Boys and the Ramones. With harmonies that hit home as well as short fast loud offensive songs, the Queers have been plugging away for the past 31 years. Supporting their good friends in Screeching Weasel, Joe and co. will crank through their set, loud and fast. Just like the Ramones of yore.
Toys That Kill rose from the ashes of F.Y.P, elementary Punk taken to the next level. Supporting their 4th record "Fambly 42," TTK plays a hard hitting, yet undeniably catchy brand of Punk Rock. They've been doing their thing for the past 13 years, and doing it well to boot. They will prove to be a great fit for this line-up.
July 15th, 2012. The Fonda Theatre on Hollywood Blvd. Don't miss out!
