Preview of: Hootenanny – at Oak Canyon Ranch – in Irvine, CA – July 2, 2011

July 2nd The Hootenanny will be coming back to Oak Canyon Ranch, it has been a highly anticipated festival every summer since 1995, featuring legends such Chuck Barry, Joe Strummer, The Stray Cats and many more. This year's line-up may possibly hold  the most diverse line-up  this festival has seen with a great mixture of Punk, Rock-a-Billy, and Swing!Powerhouses The Dropkick Murphy's and Reverend Horton Heat will be headlining, however, the supporting acts are creating just as much of a buzz! Seattle natives Murder City Devils will be performing, this band has only played a handful of shows in the last 5 years which have sold out instantaneously. Other supporting acts include X band member John Doe, Swinging Utters, MoJo Nixon, Royal Crown Review, and Supersuckers, just to name a few.

Along with the music, as always for the Hootenanny, Oak Canyon Ranch will be hosting a huge car show that is sure to draw a plethora of pin-up hunnies and greasers. There will be clothing and accessory vendors. Not to mention the food and drinks are delicious and fairly priced every year. Of all the outdoor festivals that happen during the summer, Hootenanny has maintained a large crowd of die-hards that attend every year, without losing the intimate feel of a gathering amongst friends.


The grounds are clean with plenty of shade and the ponds provide a nice breeze. The lines run smoothy and the organization of the festival is always on point. If you haven't had the chance to attend, this year's line-up is a great reason to start.
