Movits! Preview: at The Satellite in Los Angeles, CA on April 22, 2011

A little over a year ago I was raving over the first Movits show that i had the pleasure to attend. Fast forward a year and three months and I am still raving over this band, excited to see these guys live all over again.If you aren't familiar with Movits, let me give you an idea of what these are are. A little jazz, a little swing, a little rap and a lot of fun! Im actually not much of a fan of rap personally, but somehow Movits has created something so original and catchy and well written that it has prompted mt create a genre in my iTunes player dedicated to Movits.

If you are like me, and consider yourself to be a purist when it comes to jazz music and how its played, don't automatically make a snap judgment about this band, in my opinion these guys show jazz and rap a lot of respect the way they write their songs. When i got a hold of their new album Out of my Head, I listened to it with my 80 year old grandfather who was actually way into the songs.

One of the songs that is on the new album actually has a music video. The name of the song " Sammy Davis Jr." (and I thought this band couldn't get any cooler). Give this song one listen and you will be hooked. The rest of the album is actually a nice variation, and included song instrumental tracks as well. Some of them sounting very 1950s west coast like Paul Desmond and Stan Kenton.

One other thing that I feel that I should mention about Movits, is that their music videos are all incredible. They are all visually creative, crisp and entertaining. Even though the songs are in Swedish, it is easy to feel connected with these songs.
