Blondie Show Preview: at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, CA – October 5, 2011

August 31, 2011

Blondie The one and only Blondie is making her grand return to the states this fall as her world tour rolls through Los Angeles in October. Her bands new self released effort “Panic Of Girls” hit the streets just last week and already has quite a buzz surrounding the disc and its first promo/single “Mother”. Panic Of Girls marks Blondie’s first album in nearly a decade and the bands first since their inception to the Rock and Roll Hallof fame in 2006. The band Blondie got their start in the mid 70’s in and around New York City at a time when Punk Rock was blooming at venues like C.B.G..B’s and Max’s Kansas City. The band led by Debbie Harry and Chris Stein were playing a style of rock that blended elements of pop, Punk and disco into their sound which set them apart from just about any other band at the time. They quickly made a name for themselves and found success with their self titled album and continued to do so with their follow up release Plastic Letters. The bands 3rd album is what truly turned the page for Blondie as Parallel Lines shifted the band into world famous mega stars. Parallel Lines charted at No. 1 in the U.K. and 6 of the albums 12 tracks became top hits and singles around the globe; since then the album has sold 20 million copies to date!

Blondie would release a few more albums until the bands demise in 1982 which left Debbie Harry a solo artist. Her solo career never matched her previous success, but it kept the bands name in the spotlight which helped a new generation of fans discover Blondie’s music. The band officially reunited in 1997 and has been at it full time since. Their last 2 releases were met with much fanfare and have secured the bands place in the modern music scene. Expect Blondie’s October 5th show to pack all the hits that changed the face of rock forever plus newer cuts that truly would be classics had they been released 30 years prior. With the Club Nokia show being their only southern California concert, this is definitely a show not to miss out on. Long live Blondie!
