The Last Stand – The Last Stand

February 8, 2011

The Last Stand - The Last Stand reviewNYC four-piece The Last Stand stay true to their East Coast hardcore roots on their debut, self-titled EP. Comprised of scene veterans, singer Mike Scondotto, guitarist Steve Dell Croce, bassist Dion De Nardo and drummer Jimmy McCormack, The Last Stand has all the swagger any hardcore lifer would come to expect from the likes of Biohazard or Most Precious Blood.

From the chest pounding opening lines of, “Now!  The Time is Now!” on “Opportunities Lost and Found” to the final riffs of “Life’s Questions” the pace never relents. Although the lyrical depth of the album is on par with a kiddie pool, the merciless, traditional hardcore riffage more than make up for it.

The Last Stand has taken all the (pardon the pun) core elements of a successful NYCHC group and did not deviate from that formula. These bruisers are proudly waving the hardcore flag and sound pretty badass doing it.
