Crowns – Self Titled EP

January 25, 2012

If you're familiar with Strummerville, the music charity created in memory of Joe Strummer, then you're probably already familiar with Crowns, who have consistently made the top 20 download list since putting up their first recording "Little Eyes" years ago. If you're not familiar with Crowns, this is the time to get acquainted.

The new track that is quickly becoming a favorite goes by the title of “Pictures In My Mind”. It dates back as far as 1977 but is finally now available in a completed form, it’s punk and powerful and bears the ingredients of a classic.

Crowns are young, and energetic. Having made the move from native Cornwall to London, they've been busy playing with the likes of The King Blues, and will be gigging across the UK with SHARKS this spring. The band put out a 7" for their first single "Kissing Gates" this past November under their own imprint, Ship Wreckords, and this coming March will see the release of the band's first Self Titled EP. It includes six addictive tracks, five originals and a Cornish folk song, given a Flogging Molly-esque punk rock treatment. Other songs on the album run the gamut from hearty drinking songs, like "Whose Pint's Whose?" calling for a drink "larger than life" with rousing sing-along choruses, to love songs to that girl we all dream of; "she's more than able to drink me under the table, her legs never fail her, she swears like a sailor".

The official release date for this album is March 5, but why wait? Head over to http://www.crownsband.co.uk/music/ to give it a listen, and meet your new favorite band.
