Anti-Flag – The General Strike

May 3, 2012

Anti-Flag - The General StrikeWith all the chaos surrounding the current state of America and the world as a whole, I figured it wouldn’t be long before Pittsburgh PA’s own Anti-Flag would have an albums worth of material voicing their opinion on Occupy Wall Street

in a similar fashion to their 09’ album which focused on the failing American economy. The bands newest effort, their 8th full length titled The General Strike is a full on assault of social political infused punk rock most comparable to their 2001 Fat Wreck release Underground Network, its fast, its melodic and it’s pissed! The General Strike may be polar opposite of their Bright Lights Of America release as this disc is a full 12 tracks at just 27 minutes long, its stripped down to the punk rock basics and it works well in an age where perhaps kids attention spans are shorter than ever. Both Justin Sane and Chris 2 share lead vocal duties giving the album a new direction every few tracks, never allowing The General Strike a chance to grow tired, therefore it retains a fresh drive and ultimately stays focused. Longtime fans of Anti-Flag will enjoy this album and new fans picking up on the band will have their minds and eyes opened to the reality of America’s state of affairs. This is a solid release, bravo Anti-Flag for keeping it real for so many years.
