Dr. Martens store grand opening – at Posers – Hollywood, CA

Midweek in Hollywood on the famed Melrose Avenue saw the grand opening of newest edition to the avenue, The Doc Martens store. This new store is the latest addition to the already successful Posers store by opening up the space to the immediate right for exclusively Doc Martens. Posers has been an institution in Los Angeles since the 80's serving the needs of Punks, Rude Boys, Mods and more. With them opening this store that will cater to the DM brand and every style they produce, this truly has become the single best source in southern California as well as mail order for all things Doc Martens.

A good crowd came out to celebrate DM's new home in Los Angeles with plenty of beers and wine flowing. Seeing all the people in attendance for the opening at times hanging out on the sidewalk, at times looking eerily similar to Posers in the 80s when large groups of Punk kids would hang out in front of the store, when Melrose was filled with hardware stores, dry cleaners and upholstery shops. Inside the store however, if you are a fan of Doc Martin shoes, it is like walking into a candy store (they still have those right?).


The traditional wood floor leads your eyes right up to the walls that contain every style and variation of Doc Martens you could ever want. Many in attendance at the opening were blown away to see how deep Dr. Martens catalog of shoes goes. Girls and guys alike found themselves turning into a lost relative of Imelda Marcos as they eyed which pairs they were be adding to their closets. At times the opening seemed more like an art exhibit with the way people were looking at all the different boots and shoes.


The scheduled 3 hour grand opening ended up going another hour longer due to the good vibe and conversations going on. About every 15 minutes or so they were giving away DM products buy holding drawings for many pairs of Doc Martens, DM accessory packs and gift certificates which created a lot of fun for everyone in attendance.

The opening also gave a chance to hang out with the staff that you find when you walk in there on any given day. They too share the great passion for Doc Martens and you will find the entire staff very cool and down to earth. Everyone there was united under one banner of how the Doc Martens have served them so well over the years. The stories people had about the adventures they had in them as well as the concerts they had been to in them. It was pretty clear that most people do not regard their DMs as an article of fashion, yet more of a lifestyle accessory to carry them through their daily lives.
