We recently had a chance to catch up with Dan upon his arrival back home from Haiti and gain some insight on some of the things he has been working on.



How did you come to realize that you were interested in public health?



My last year of school, I had to write a huge report in order to graduate. I convinced the school to let me travel around the country to disaster and assassination sites, such as Ground Zero (for the 1-year anniversary of 9/11), Baltimore, Maryland. Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Little Bighorn, Dealey Plaza (where JFK) was shot, as well as some other lesser known massacre sites, like Fort Pillow and the Monongah Mine. I was interested in meeting people who lived with the memory of the disaster on a daily basis, Serax For Sale. The organization I work for - Relief International - had two major programs in Haiti - giving medicine and treatment at mobile clinics and building emergency toilets. I was sent to Haiti to conduct two assessments of the population. For the first one, my team of Haitian translators and I would go to places where people whose buildings had collapsed were living - mostly in unorganized camps, where families were living in tents made of sticks and sheets and shitting outside, purchase Serax online. From the survey, we learned that we needed to provide engineers to look at the homes and make small repairs to make them liveable and strong, so people would move inside again.



Besides that, I worked on lots of nonglamorous stuff: going to meetings, taking inventories, and writing reports and proposals.

Your whole time in Haiti was probably a trip, what do think your single most memorable moment was while on the Island?
