Criminal Damage – Self titled 12″ EP

Apparently I have been sleeping on this band as they have since released an L.P. titled "No Solution" which I eagerly anticipate hearing. This is catchy Oi/street punk with thundering guitars and the speed and energy of American hardcore. While Criminal Damage feature Tragedy drummer Paul Burdette on vocal/guitar duty there aren't any obvious musical similarities. Their lyrics avoid the cheesy traps often associated with other bands of the Oi genre, taking on issues of power and corruption in a thoughtful manner ("Power of Fools," "No Turning Back," "Last Chance") and throwing in some introspective examinations of depression and the human condition ("On Goes the Fight," "Anesthesia). For fans of No Future Records releases looking for a modern equivalent this record is essential.
