By Lackass Story by: Danny Danzig

The Alley, one of Orange County’s newest venues located in Fullerton, packed the house on a Wednesday night with a great lineup up bands, showcasing some of the scene’s up and coming bands. As we started filing into the venue we knew that tonight was going to be better than any of the other shows that we had ever been to at this place. It was still early in the night and the patio was already congested with people socializing with friends, having a smoke and just hanging out. Even those in bands couldn’t help but mess around a little…

Ok, so we’re gonna be honest. We spent most of our time outside before the show bullshitting with everyone, so we ended up missing most of Atomic Youth’s set. I know I know we feel bat, but maybe it just wasn’t meant to be. We’ll try and catch you guys next time Atomic Youth! Nevertheless, we checked these guys out on myspace and they have a rad band going there. Keep it up, we see you guys soon!

he next band were The Drencroms, or is it just Drencroms….hmmm. Anyway we went inside to see The Drencroms. The Drencroms are a very fast an aggressive band. With Jeremy bellowing out to the crowd, to Jefficator pounding away at the skins, this band is way fun to see. Eddie (guitarist) and Leo (guest bassist) shredded there instruments to great songs such ass “DNA”, “Bite the Curb!”, and “Smash the State”. Everyone had fun to the very last song.

You know….we just came to a realization…The less we write the faster we can catch up on all the coverage that we have been sitting on for so long. So lets just get to the point with each band and check out what’s going on in each photo.

Roundhouse Rampage, “Nerd Core” at its best. These guys always look like they are having fun while on stage and put on a hell of a good show. Everyone had fun singing along to “Zombie Attack” and “PETA”. We’re looking forward to seeing these guys play again.

The next band were the Bad Antics, hailing from Fullerton, CA. These home grown punks are always a crowd favorite at the Alley. My favorite song is “Raisins” with John shredding that gnarly opening bass line. The whole band has progressed greatly from there first show in the backyards of Placentia, to now, in the Alley. Some great songs include “Cops”, “(you’re a) Rip Off”, and “Kicked Out”, and not to forget there awesome cover of “No Mercy” by Agression.

Up next was Tipper’s Gore. These guy’s are one of the best OC bands to come out for a long time. They have had there share of shows, all over and place and with some remarkable bands. They belted out some classic songs off there first record such as “Take Control” , “Don’t Sell Me God”, and “Artificial Person”. They also unleashed some great new ones such as “Musical Holocaust” and “What you can’t Hear”. There front man, “Davey “Diamond” Three Bags, gets really in touch with the crowd, and tends to find himself more on the floor, then the stage. I see many great things for this band in the future, and we will be there to experience it.

While the energy was still pumping high from Tippers Gore; Narcoleptic Youth came in big with their ripping bass lines, high-octane vocals and flawless guitar. The guys ripped into many of their older songs and the main pit gave way to a surging mass front-center of the stage. After ‘Class of 1999′, which was a crowd favorite, they asked who wanted to hear a cover. They tore into “Bullet” by the Misfits and executed it perfectly. For a nice girls birthday, they played Barbi in Bondage and finished the show with Mini-van Soccer Mom.

The audience insisted on “one more song”. After a couple minutes, the lights went back down and Joey said “alright, we’ll play one more song”. By the time those words left his mouth, 86 the Crap was being played and the crowd went wild. This was one of the best shows Narcoleptic Youth has played yet; covering all the favorites and all the essential new songs. So there you have it. Another great night at the Alley. We laughed, we cried, and sang along. After our post show tradition of socializing in the parking lot, we said our goodbye’s, and left content for the night.

Thanks to KSB for the help.
