The Black Diamond Riders – The Originators – The Potato Pirates – The Plainfield Butchers – The Automatic Erasers – at the Double Down Saloon – Las Vegas, NV

June 12, 2010

I knew this was going to be a great night to be at The Double Down, But I was in for the surprise of my life. The night started off with one of Las Vegas's most up and coming bands "The Originators"  This band is on their way to bigger and better things. With an entire new lineup consisting of, High Flyin Dave on Bass he is the founder and an original member, The Great woz on keyboards the only other original member,  Danielle the LOVELY and SEXY lead vocalist, Tom on drums, Dennis on trumpet, and John on lead guitar, John also plays with another local band called BATTLE BORN. From the begining of their set they open with "Government"  then my favorite song MARTINI COOL, their combination of jazzy funk, Punk, you can't help but move and groove to their sounds. They are non stop JAMMIN FOOLS !!!!!  With HIGH FLYIN DAVE  smokin his bass, to Dennis blowin bad ass sounds out of his trumpet! WOZ  killin the keys on his keyboard, John tearing up his strings on the guitar, and Tom keepin the beat on drums, add all that together with the Beautiful Danielle on vocals you have a band that just is a total delight to watch.

Which is evident by the crowds that keep getting bigger every time they play. Hopefully they will be able to hit the road soon and you can see them in your town.

Up second on the bill is aband that has been together for only 2 months, "THE BLACK DIAMOND RIDERS" The following is an excerpt from their My Space page explaining them and their unique sound.

The Black Diamond Riders is a neo-soul group put together by Steve Soto Voc (Adolescents ), Jaime Reidling Drums (US Bombs Big Drill Car, Cadillac Tramps) and Warren Renfrow Bass (the mighty rhythm section of the Cadillac Tramps) that covers 60's soul classics and wants to bring the party to you. The group is rounded out by such So Cal heavy hitters as Johnny Two bags Wickersham (Social Distortion) Guitar, Greg Kuehn (TSOL) Keys, James Achor (Royal Crown Revue) Guitar and a kickass horn section featuring up and comers Vince Hizon (sax) and Joe Badaczewsky (trumpet) Don't be the last guy on your block to see this band -The Party Train awaits.

Steve Soto Vocals (Adolescents, Manic Hispanic, Twisted Hearts) Warren Renfro Bass (Cadillac Tramps, Manic Hispanic) Jamie Reidling Drums ( US Bombs, Die Hunns, Caddilac Tramps) Greg Kuehn Keys ( TSOL, Bob Dylan) Jonny Wickersham Guitar ( Social Distortion) James Achor Guitar (Royal Crown Revue, Twisted Hearts) Robbie Allen Guitar (Tender Fury RHCP) And The Bad Ass Horns of Vince Hizon Sax and Joseph L Badaczewski Trumpet..\

With this much talent all on one tiny stage they were amazing!!!!  I asked if they had any CD's out or music available and unfortunately they don't. since as stated earlier they have only been together for 2 months. I hope they go on a big tour because this is a band you do not want to miss. They finished their set and evrybody wanted more so they did one more, We were not satasfied with just that one so they did 2 or 3 more. And left everybody inside the Double Down wanting even more.
Black Diamond Riders

It amazed me that a 9 piece band actually fit in the space provided at The Double Down. Which makes it even more intimate, you are up close and personal with every band that plays there.  If You get a chance to see them take my advice DO IT !!!  they are just to incredible to miss.

The last 3 bands that were on the bill were Punk rockers,  Auto Erasers, Potato Pirates, and Plainfield Butchers. After the rockin Originators, and the soulful Black Diamond Riders, it was a nice way to end the evening with a little hardcore Punk.
Once again a great line up put together at The Double Down.
