Going Underground Record Store 11th Anniversary Party – Featuring: Running Scared – and Carcinogenz – at Going Underground Records – Bakersfield, CA

September 22nd proved to be quite an eventful evening for Bakersfield. Along with the KSVG 89.7 Savage Radio benefit show and a kick ass Skinhead Reggae show with local band The Tarfons, Going Underground Records were celebrating their 11th year in business. Starting at 4pm and going til 8pm, there were live bands, DJ's and plenty of great deals on new and used records.

Ronald Ramirez opened Going Underground's doors when he was only 21 years old. In a world where records stores don't last for too long, it's obvious that owning a record store may not be the easiest way to make a living. Bakersfield has seen many come and go over the years. However Going Underground has stood the test of time.

The small shop is filled wall to wall with a huge selection of vinyl, patches, T-shirts, magazine's, pins, and lots of other goodies. 11 years in the business is a great reason to celebrate. Local bands Running Scared and Carcinogenz performed in front of the store and various DJs spun some great Punk mixes as people of all ages thumbed through records and talked music politics. 

People like Ronald are unsung heroes of the music scene and music lovers.
