Dr. Dre Day Featuring: Fart Barf – Neighborhood Brats – Pu$$y Cow – Horror Squad – at El Cid – Los Angeles, CA

February 9, 2013

This years Dre Day celebration was a huge success as expected. The show sold out and the venue was at max capacity before the first band even took the stage.

In spite of MANY warnings from the event organizers to show up early to make sure they got in, many did not heed the warning and chose to show up late leaving them with their only recourse, which was to complain on various social media platforms about not getting in. El Cid has a great layout. On the patio there was a taco bar set up for concert goers, as well as the movie "The Carwash" being projected on the wall for people to watch as they ate.

While many still waited in line, Chino natives Horror Squad started their set. The Pop-Punk band had the crowd singing along through out their time on stage. You can tell these guys know how to party, and how to keep one going. They were a hell of a lot of fun.

Pu$$y Cow plays Dre Day every year, This is Joe Dana's baby! Just like every year before, Pu$$y Cow kicked ass. They nailed it with their version of NWA's "Gangsta Gangsta".

Whisky Christie made her rapping debut along side Joe and owned the crowd as she covered NWA's "I Ain't Tha 1".

To end the set, Joe crowd surfed while he sang "California Love".

Los Angeles transplants "Neighborhood Brats" were up next. All I can say is "HOLY SHIT! Watch the video!" We are happy that Neighborhood Brats are officially an LA band. This hopefully means there will be plenty of upcoming gigs with them on the bill. If you haven't seen them yet, and you love real Punk Rock, make sure you check out a show if you get the chance. Their choice for a cover was a very Hard Core rendition of Dr.Dre's "Keep Their Heads Ringin".

Fart Barf was the perfect band to close this party. After all the excitement of the previous bands and the Eddie 40's Hand competition, the drunk crowd was ready to dance their asses off. The eclectic cavemen kept the dance floor moving through out their whole set, they are a seriously entertaining and original band.

Sadly 2pm came and everyone was kicked out of El Cid, but that didn't mean the party was over. A large, very hungry group of Pizza Punx mobbed over to Garage Pizza to satisfy their appetites and keep it goin' a little bit longer.

Can't wait to celebrate Dr. Dre's birthday again next year.
