Cat Party – at Silver Factory Studios, Los Angeles, CA
March 20, 2009
Short and sweet was the theme for this show. I heard about this show last minute while grabbing a bite to eat for dinner, but when i heard Cat Party was on the bill my mind was made up, i was definitely going! The drive to downtown Los Angeles wasn’t too far from where i was having dinner, so with a little help from Google maps it was easy to find the place.
As I mapped out my route and began to making my way towards the show i immediately thought that this seemed like a strange place for a show, since my point of destination was in the heart of the industrial district by the river and railroad yard. I began to wonder if i was being set up. I hadn’t pissed anyone off to my knowledge and the guys in Cat Party all seem to like me, so why the set up? As i parked on the vacant and dimly lit street i looked at the building the show was supposed to be happening at. "915 Mateo street ", this was the right place unless i had received bum directions. I walked up to the building and saw a man sitting by the side door. "is there a show happening here?" i asked. He told me to go inside, down the hall, downstairs, and then to follow the music.
I was relieved to find the show WAS happening. I got there just in the nick of time just as Cat party was setting up.

This band is definitely one of my favorite bands of all time, yes, you heard me right, ALL TIME. I am really bad at talking about music and describing a bands to someone. I’m a simpleton, I can tell you if i like a band or not and maybe pick up on some of the bands influences, beyond that you are on your own to explore the band.

Cat Party played a good selection of old and new songs that they have including Jigsaw Thoughts, Entitled, Product of the Eighties, Still Life and my personal favorite Oblong Blue. Whats more, is that these gents have a full length album coming out very soon on Flat Black Records, which we are all very stoked to heard about here.
