Knives Preview – at DiPiazza’s in Long Beach, CA on July 6, 2010
June 14, 2010
After the demise of Tipper’s Gore the Orange County Punk Rock scene was left scrambling to recover as the one band who shoveled most of the burden of creating a local scene onto their own shoulders called it a day. Luckily it didn’t take long for guitarist Ryan Blauvelt singer Davey Ferchow to resurface with their new band, Knives. Ferchow and Blauvelt, who also run the Flat Black Records label together, have taken a slightly different musical direction with Knives which reflects their appreciation for melodic Punk Rock, particularly from the likes of Canadian bands like The Subhumans and D.O.A.. While right off the bat they had a strong start with a solid demo and a live debut at Bad Reaction’s last show, their performances and song writing have only since improved. As this write up is being typed they are recording for their upcoming 7" that will be released on their Flat Black label.
