Willkills – Rough Times Ahead

December 14, 2009

Willkills recordAt first spin at this records the sounds are reminiscent of Street Dogs, Dropkick Murphys and later as the record continues you feel a vibe similar to The Briggs. This is a pretty charging record with every song having it’s own variance and unique character. What is really cool about each song on this record is that for the first 20 or 30 seconds you think you have the overall vibe of the how you think the song is gonna go down, then bam, it kicks over to something totally raging.

The unpredictability of this record is what is so fun about this one, because afterall there is nothing worse than getting a record when track 1 and track 2 sound the same and on and on. Track 5, “Bang Bang” for example could almost be described as starting out with Ska type feel, mixed to The Clash and then ending with something likened to TSOL’s, Beneath The Shadows. Thankfully The Willkills keep you off guard all throughout this record. Standout musicianship on the tracks has to be the breakdowns along with harmonizing vocals that compliment this release. Add this record to your rotation.
