The Germs at The Echo

The Germs – at The Echo – Los Angeles, CA
This was an all Germs weekend that started with the opening of The Germs movie, "What We Do Is Secret". This was a non stop Germs fueled time.
How are you not stoked for a whole weekend with The Germs. The movie was an excellent way to get things started on Friday night and then heading over to The Echo in Silverlake for a live show. If you have not been to The Echo for a show no matter who is playing, do yourself a favor and go to a show there, you will dig on the vibe to where you will always want to go back. The last time we had seen this line up of The Germs with Shane West taking up vocal duties at the asking of surviving Germs members, Pat, Lorna and Don at The Echo was over 3 years ago with The Adolescents for a semi invite only show just to see how the live show would be, needless to say it was great that night with bottles flying and the place going off and this line has continued to play live ever since.
A full crowd was on hand as would be expected for this band and even before they went on people just kept piling into the venue. Pat Smear who has been a long time fan of the Hagstrom guitar line was reportedly given a 1968 Hagstrom guitar by a long time fan before the show and Pat was thrilled to get it. The anticipation in the air has at an all time high as The Germs emerged from a back area door to take the stage. The hour and ten minute set started after 11 and seemed to fly by too fast with a set that ran through just about ever song. Every time we have went to their shows to report on this reincarnation the show has always been sold and the crowd on hand has always wanted more. This was pure LA Punk rock entertainment at its finest.

Then it came time to burn the set list.

Pat Smear’s guitar lays still after being thrown at the drums at the end of the show.
